Christian Pastor Retreat is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that provides
furnished cabins for pastors and their families for vacations, restful retreats
and time with the Lord.
Located in beautiful Fentress County in eastern Tennessee, we are just 14
miles east of Jamestown, and 14 miles west of Oneida, at the edge of Big
South Fork National River and Recreation Area and Pickett State Park. The
retreat is about 100 miles north of Knoxville and 15 miles from the Kentucky
line at an altitude of 1600'. We are on the Cumberland Plateau, which is the
world's longest forested plateau. There are many things to do within a short
drive of the cabins. We are on Central Time.
At present we have three cabins. Two cabins are located on over eight acres
of tree lined property and sit serenely at the rear of the lot. Cabin C was added
October 1, 2009 and sits in the middle of five acres of woods. There is peace
and privacy, quiet and semi-seclusion for each cabin. Wildlife routinely graze
in the yard. You will often see horseback riders passing through the area on
trail rides.
Cabin A sleeps six and Cabin B sleeps eight. A separate bunk room between
Cabins A & B sleeps four more. The cabins are heated and air conditioned.
Cabin A & B kitchens are complete with a full sized refrigerator, stove,
microwave, dishwasher, toaster and coffee pot. Dishes, glassware and
cooking utensils are provided.
Cabin C was added October 1, 2009 and sleeps four. Click on the Cabin C tab
and read about this idyllic cabin in the woods complete with rocking chairs on
the porch. Cabin C does not have a dishwasher.
A covered patio breezeway separates Cabins A and B. The breezeway is often
used by guests for ping pong and other games. Outdoor tables and chairs are
provided. The front porch of cabin B has a wonderful porch swing. Each cabin
has a barbecue grill just outside their door. You will need to supply your own
charcoal.
A laundry room with two washers and two dryers is provided for the use of all
cabin guests and is located in the covered patio of Cabins A and B.
This ministry was founded in November, 2007. We became aware of statistics
showing that 1500 or more clergy leave each month due to stress, financial
hardships, etc. The Lord has blessed us abundantly and we feel led to share
our two cozy mountain cabins with full-time Christian clergy and missionaries
who are serving the Lord. We check references and ensure that applicants
are bona fide ministers in one capacity or another.
Sometimes guests are able to reserve both cabins for family and friends who
are also full-time ministers, missionaries or Christian teachers. Summer
reservations fill up 6-9 months in advance. We are already taking reservations
for 2010 and 2011.
We have always loved Tennessee and moved here in June, 1999 after retiring
from John Deere in Illinois. The climate is mild and the people are friendly.
We enjoy riding our horses and four wheeling. (We neither rent nor allow
guests to use our horses or four wheeler.) Tom enjoys hiking and working in
his workshop making toys for Operation Christmas Child and a variety of other
things.
We are sure you will enjoy your stay at Christian Pastor Retreat!
